This is my favourite of my poems and is written in Tanka form, which is an extended form of Haiku. It has two extra lines both consisting of 7 syallables. The top three lines must form a complete poem, stand alone, the bottom two elaborate. They are often about nature and it said on the site that I researched the form on that every important occasion has a Tanka written for it, it is the duty of the author to find something in nature to express or symbolise the Tanka.
This piece was inspired by something I saw on the journey to church one sunday, I was feeling quite down and I saw a brief climpse of a cluster of trees all bare apart from one tiny Cherry Blossom tree in the middle, it was full to bursting with flower and the petals had blown quite away making the ground shocking pink.
My friend and I have a thing for the anime Card Captor Sakura, (she is Sakura I am Li) So whenever I see Sakura I think of her.
Yeah... The two words 'Haiku' and 'Tanka' Is really confusing me right now @-@ But I do understand each of your poems meanings and messages you bring across. And even though they may seem very short and quick the emotions you delivered to the reader will always linger a lot longer... maybe even make you think and learn from it. But thats what you were trying to do anyway
Trouble is with me when it comes to writing poetry is that I don't plan out how many syllables or metaphors I use but purely rely on what I am writing about and how I want to bring it across in MY form. Yes I do write poetry by the way! Half the time I don't submit them cos I'm either busy or to lazy.
((Though I did submit one so far called 'Sleeping Ticker...' *hint, hint* ))
But overall Mike I really like your Poems! Keep it up! This particular Poem is my fav! ^^ Your friend is very lucky to have you. Just don't scare her off with the Yami Bakura Doll! O_O
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
